Besides many small improvements, our latest version introduces a brand new navigation concept as well as a powerful portfolio overview containing all your buildings measured with Locatee. Additionally, we tweaked the names of certain metrics and modules in order to make them more self-explanatory. A summary of the highlights:
New navigation concept
Within the last few months we have been rethinking the way navigation within Locatee Analytics should work. Most modules of Locatee Analytics provide detailed insights into a specific site (a site can be a single building or a campus). Hence, we came to the conclusion that looking at these modules in the context of a specific site simplifies the visualisation of data and the usability.
Based on these findings we have introduced a new navigation concept and added a spatial hierarchy (see «Portfolio overview with spatial hierarchy»). With this release, the portfolio module becomes the new entry point of Locatee Analytics right after signing in. With the help of the portfolio overview or the SiteFinder in the navigation on the left, you can choose which site to view in detail. The additional modules (Live View, Heatmap or Assigned Spaces) will all be accessible as soon as you selected a site. From then on all these modules will display their data within the scope of a specific site.
Portfolio overview with spatial hierarchy
In order to oversee an entire portfolio measured with Locatee, we extended the functionality of the existing portfolio module and turned it into the entry point of Locatee Analytics (see «New navigation concept»). From there you can identify the sites with the biggest growth or consolidation potential before you dive deeper into specific sites.
To structure larger portfolios better, we introduced a spatial hierarchy whereby measured buildings can be grouped by city, country, or region (hierarchy can be customised). This enables you to compare different regions’ utilisation and optimisation potential.
Renaming of existing modules & new metrics
«Sharing Ratio» becomes «Assigned Space». As a part of the new navigation concept we challenged the names of the different modules within Locatee Analytics to make them intuitive and self-explanatory.
We decided to rename the «Sharing Ratio» module «Assigned Space». The reason: The module allows you to analyse the utilisation and optimisation potential of specific spaces assigned to teams or floor sections. The sharing ratio is just one metric displayed, but overall it’s about analysing the assigned spaces.
Required Workplaces. To understand the actual capacity of workplaces your employees require in a building, we introduced a new metric called «Required Workplaces». It describes the maximum number of workplaces which are occupied at the same time, but excludes outliers. As a workspace should be optimised on typical peak situations, this metric gives a realistic picture of the actual demand by eliminating 5% (1 out of 20 days) of the outliers. This avoids that extraordinary events (e.g. town-hall meetings) distort the data. The approach corresponds to current statistical practice and is referred to as the 95th percentile. This new metric will be available in the Portfolio module as well as in the Assigned Space module (former Sharing Ratio).
Opportunity. Based on the Required Workplaces and the Target Utilisation metrics, we calculate the Opportunity. The Opportunity describes the optimisation potential. It contains the number of workplaces that can be reassigned, removed or have to be added in order to reach the Target Utilisation. The Opportunity can be positive or negative. In the former release, this metric was called Over Capacity.
